Final Blog of the 1st Semester (Blog #18)

With this being the last Blog of the semester, I thought we would do something fun!

Your Assignment:

Write a letter to Santa Clause and tell him if you've been naughty or nice. Also include a list of what you want for Christmas. Finally, tell the rest of your classmates where you will be going to celebrate the Christmas Holiday and what you have been blessed with in 2008. New Year's Resolutions anyone?!

Auto-Industry Bail Out Bill (Blog #13)

With the economy still in a downward spiral, many industries are now stepping up to the trough hoping congress will give them a piece of the pie.

U.S. Enters Syria! (Blog #10)

With the recent news that the U.S. Military entered into Syria targeting a terrorist, questions have arisen that the U.S. crossed the line. Syria has filed a complaint with the United Nations and an investigation has been launched.

Your Assignment: Briefly explain, with details, what happened (1 pt.). Then research what exactly the United Nations is and does [CWI Key Terms and People] (1 pt.), finally describe the process they will be going through in their investigation of this incident (1 pt.).

Final Quarter 1 Blog!! (Blog #9)

Wow, to think it is already the end of the first quarter is crazy. I guess the saying holds true when talking about our blogs, time really does fly by when your having fun.

Ok, now for your assignment. This last week of Quarter 1, I am going to open it up for debate on whatever topic you want to blog about. Pick a CURRENT EVENTS/WORLD ISSUE related topic and state your opinion/thoughts on that topic. Then look around at your classmates blogs and comment/reply to their post. "New" Bail Out Bill Passes House (Blog #6)

The House today passed a far-reaching and historic plan to bail out the nation's ailing financial system, CNNMoney reports. The bill passed 263 to 171 after strong lobbying by the White House and party leaders. Last week, the House defeated an earlier version of the bill, shocking the markets and congressional leaders. "We all know that we are in the midst of a financial crisis," House Republican Leader John Boehner said before voting for the bill.

Research this "New" bail out bill.
1. What is the difference between the old and this new bill?
2. What are two criticisms of this new bill by opponents?

Round 2, Federal Government Bailout. (Blog #5)

Recently, some of the top financial institutions have taken a real beating. Lehman's, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, to AIG. Now the Federal Government is discussing more bailouts of these Banks/Mortgage Companies with tax dollars. (That's your money, and your parents money!!)

1). State your opinion on the Government Bailout issue citing specific examples the government should or should not take.

Same-Sex Marriages (Blog #4)

One current event that is on going is the presidential debate. Many topics are discussed throughout each campaign. One of the current issues being debated is that of same-sex marriage. Should there be a constitutional amendment added to the constitution addressing this situation? Are states free to decide on the issued, or again, should those in Washington D.C. make the decision?
